Historique :	Panneaux exécutés vers 1755, attribués à Jean-Baptiste Pillement ou Alexis Peyrotte et provenant d'un salon chinois. Pillement publie en 1755 le premier recueil d'ornements chinois à Londres, et il est possible qu'il vienne déjà dans le Midi. Les commanditaires étaient des gens fortunés qui vivaient une partie de l'année à Paris. ils peuvent aussi avoir commandé à Paris des toiles qui ont ensuite été installée à Montpellier. Ces peintures sont proches de Pillement mais aussi des toiles de Peyrotte (Mazan, 1699 ; Paris, 1769), un des grands ornemanistes de l'époque de Louis XV.
